Okay guys, I need to get this ball rolling now. We've only got a few short months to collect everyones work, promote the hell out of the book, find potential advertisements and get all the extra support we need to make it work.
Drawfest Annual is a book we publish, with a whole bunch of New Zealand art in it. And that book starts with you.
Inside this folder are two templates. They're a lot smaller in filesize than last time because I'm not including the background. That's right, the background is all yours to do what you please with. I highly recommend leaving it blank, and letting me put a nice paper texture in there to create some consistency throughout the entire book, but again, thats your call to make.
One page - $12 Two pages (recommended) - $15 Four pages (maximum) - $30
Postage - $3 (within New Zealand)
This money pays for your copy of the book. If you buy four pages, you still only get one book. You can buy additional books at a fixed rate once printing costs are finalized.
I'm charging slightly more for pages this round because I anticipate a much larger book. If you only want one page, I would be happier for you to submit with a friend so I don't have to pair people up myself.
To explain the template in more detail: The green boxes are just a suggested way to split up your work. Lots of people used them last time to good effect, and other people didn't.
The red box is where you put some info about yourself, the artist. A name/moniker and a website are pretty much all the info you need. I would like if people used this area for their info, because in many cases the artists who ignored it created numerous problems for *Gladys-Design on print day. Plus I got growled, and thats no fun. Try not to have any words too close to the edges of the page. If they're even close to the blue bleed line, they're too close.
If you're only having one page, the red box must be included on the side of the page opposite to the spine of the book. No words can be too close to the center of the page.
On that note, the purple area denotes where any images going from one page across to the next need to double up slightly. Any details too close to the edge will be hard to see down in the binding, or will be cut off in the book making process.
Please don't flatten your final files, and send them to matthewjwills@gmail.com when you are done. They will all need to be edited in some way, I can guarantee it. We can arrange payments after I receive your work.
As always, no fanart. Drawfest claims no additional copyrights on your work and will never re-use your work without permission outside of being featured in this book.
